|We had one year to complete the
candidate process with Safe Communities Canada to have Assiniboia
designated a Safe Community.
Our goal was to have this process begin a long term, cooperative, community commitment to establish the highest possible level of safety in our community.
Our Coalition includes a wide variety of groups, businesses, government agencies and individuals with a passion for promoting and enhancing safety in our community. To become part of the ongoing work of Safe Communities Assiniboia contact our coordinator Tammy 306-640-8028 Email .
Aside from the programs we were already working together on, our next major step was an inventory of safety programs and needs in our community to establish priority areas that we can focus upon. Priority Setting Exercises were held Jan 2010 and Nov of 2012.
By April of 2010 we completed the requirements to qualify as a Safe Community. Our Safe Community Action Plan allows us to accomplish more together than we can individually.
As of July 2010 we have been designated a Safe Community by Safe Communities Canada. The 59th community to achieve this designation and commit to working towards an ever safer Assiniboia. We are the 3rd community in Saskatchewan to be designated.
